Maybe it’s the consistently growing caseloads and attendant backlogs in many courts. Maybe it’s an increasing intolerance for shenanigans during a global pandemic. It’s hard to be sure. But one thing is clear: judges’ tolerance for what they deem to be unreasonable and excessive fee requests seems to have reached an all-time low.
